We've all heard of Banksy, the well-known but unidentified graffiti artist who leaves his artwork across the streets of England. But now, it seems, there is another anonymous artist on the scene.

Under the name of A34, the creator has installed fake signage around the streets of Oxford, confusing and entertaining residents.

All of the new street signs are inspired by social media, like Facebook Row, WhatsApp Lane and Selfie Passage.

Around 20 have appeared in the university city so far, with other names including Instagram Avenue, Twitter Lane, Emoji Alley, and WTF Lane.

The mysterious artist shared images of his installations via his @Athirty4 Twitter account.

Posting online, he said: 'I've created my signs so that they appear fake upon close inspection; however, once they are photographed, they look three dimensional and look unquestionably real.

'It's an illusion, in the same way that much of social media is an illusion.'

According to BBC News, an Oxford City Council spokesman said the signs were making areas within the city hard to navigate so would have to be removed.
